Long Time No Post

Hi. My name is Mrittika Ghosh, and I am extremely hyper right now. I have one follower, the third season of the Big Bang Theory on DVD, and a bag of baked Lay's which I have mixed feelings about. Haven't posted in a while, I know. May have been due to the lack of anyone who would care, but oh well. If there's no one reading I can say whatever I want. Easier that way, I suppose. So...what has gone on in my life? Well, I visited Chicago with my graduated 8th grade class for a week, am scheduled to purchase a 16GB iPad 3 in about a month, and am pumped for summer. Birthday coming up, leaving for Calcutta, India on the 24th, then to Miami with my borderline crazy yet lovable mother. What about you, imaginary rainbow zebra-striped reader? What's up with you?

Freshhh

I wanted to have a fresh start to this blog thing. Someday, when I have more readers (or any at all), I suppose I'll fall into a routine. But for now, I'll just write whatever is on my mind. I wrote a mediocre poem the other day. Deal with it. Any feedback on how to make it not so terrible is appreciated. I wonder if my blog ever shows up on the "Next Blog" thing. Hmm.

Help Her

Red eyes, blue blood, icy soul
Stillettos covered in mud
Heart black, made of coal
Only three glowing embers
Never to be remembered

Wander streets at free will
Invent complex dramatics
Find home nowhere,
Pretend, live life without a care
Abuse your youth
Too young to notice
Focused on the last kiss

Years later,
heart broken,
soul taken,
last words unheard,
voice shrill,
Heart still.

Random Poetry Outbreak

Earlier this week, I was greeted to my gmail account with an e-mail from Literary Life Bookstore in Grand Rapids. I had won the Poetry Contest for my age group. Now, my age group only went up to age 12, so I was the oldest aged person competing in the category. But really, I'll be damned if I let that get in the way of my happiness. This poem was really part of my homework for my social studies class. Early American Literature project on Emily Dickinson.

The Whisper of a Child

The whisper of a child
So sweet and innocent
Prevents a mind from recognizing
A child's mischievous intent

The whisper of a child
Could stop the sun from rising
And truly does the earth sob along
When the same child begins crying

(you should know this isn't the poem that won the contest. I'll post that one later. Probably.)

Quirk Update Two

Hey guys, so I am well aware that no one reads this, but I'd like to think that I reach hundreds of people all over the world from my little corner of the internet. Well, we can all dream (: . So, for the past few weeks, I've been addicted to Skype. It's almost like a new facebook. Friends have been telling me to "skype" them after school instead of "Facebook" or call. It's a pretty amazing app, though, I have to admit. But moving on to what this post is all about; What's happening in my life now?
Well, to make it simple, I've been moody lately. You know, going from tired to hyper to happy to depressed in a span of five minutes? That's me. But still, we all have our little "phases." I haven't slept in two days because (for those who don't know already) I have issues with sleeping n junk. IT'S REALLY IRRITATING.

The Ultimate Bollywood Junkie

Yes, it has been true my entire life. I am obsessed with Bollywood. I've pretty much grown up around the colorful movie industry. My mom and I were never ones to miss the latest Shahrukh Khan action romance.  Though as much as I admire King Khan himself, no one, and Imean NO ONE beats my celebrity crush, Shahid Kapoor! I have to say, this sexy beast is the center of all my favorite movies. Either him, or my amazing role model, Priyanka Chopra.  She's gorgeous, smart, and has some serious acting chops. Really, I look up to her more than almost anyone. Anyways, what's happening with you guys lately? Leave a comment? <3

Offices, iPods, and Tacos

I am currently in a state of extreme boredom. My dad's office is completely empty on the weekends, and I realized I haven't posted in a while, so here I am. Speaking to a nonexistent group of readers on the internet. Offices can get a bit dull sometimes, don't you think? Nothing but four white walls and a computer to keep you awake. So I turn to you, readers. SAVE ME FROM THIS BOREDOM!
Normally, I wouldn't be in such a state, but one huge part of my life is missing: my iPod touch. Yes, I dropped it. My beloved technological savior is broken. It worked perfectly well for about two weeks after the screen was cracked, so I thought nothing of it. Then, one day. it turned off and never turned back on. I'm devastated!
Otherwise, my life is going pretty well I guess. I'm not really sure why added taco to the title. Probably just a random thing to get you to read this. Haha. Alright, well, I promise to update more regularly now, even with a literally nonexistent following. It's like talking to a wall.

Support Japan

Today, I walked into my first hour class to see the live news being projected onto the screen. Mr.G never does that, so obviously I wondered what was going on. Finally, I turned my attention to the screen; 8.9M EARTHQUAKE HITS JAPAN! I was utterly shocked at this. After a few minutes, Mr.G turned off the projector and informed those of us who didn't know (including me) what was going on. During the middle of the night, Honshu, Japan had been hit by the largest tsunami/earthquake of his lifetime. It was expected to hit Hawaii in a matter of minutes, and destroy the West Coast in a matter of hours. How could this happen? I thought. We would continue the day as usual, while people not even a day away would be in complete chaos, some even dead. This morning, the death toll in Japan was 96. I couldn't bear to check what it was afterwards. What were your reactions? You can donate through UNICEF to help the afflicted areas. My heart goes out to those of you with family or friends living in the afflicted areas.

Quirk Update One

Hey guys, so I've decided that every few blog posts, I'll post a little bit about how my life is going as of late.
Okay, I'm not gonna lie, I haven't been the MOST positive person lately. Of course, every person has their "depressing" times, but I'd been in kind of a slump for a while. I was definitely a little disappointed with the way the blog is going. I imagined that somehow, it would just take off immediately and people would get the word out. But aside from that, my grades have been slipping. I know it's far-fetched, but my lifelong dream is to get accepted and graduate from the University of Michigan.I'm not planning on telling all my friends about the blog, because I like the idea of being anonymous with my blog. Normally, I'm one of the most postitive people you know, but i guess with everything going on with my family and my grades, I've been a little stressed lately. That's for another time, though.
My friends have definitely been there for me through everything, though. They've been the best. I don't know where I'd be without them always cheering me up.
Well, I'll catch up with you again in a couple days, quirks. What's going on in your life now? Leave a comment? Please?

American Idol 2011

Okeydokey, so I've been following this show since Day 1, and I thought it was high time to share my picks for this season with you guys. Honestly, I don't think there's a whole lot of talent this year (at least not compared to last year). My absolute favorite to ever hit the idol stage in my lifetime was definitely Siobhan Magnus from just last season. This year, I'm thinking that most of the contestants sound like any other coffeehouse singer in America. Nevertheless, a couple contestants do have unique voices this year. My personal favorite is Lauren Alaina. I'll admit, James Durbin has a lot of talent too, but his image definitely needs a little work. Then again, there's Scotty McCreery, who has a unique deep voice, but he forgot the words to a song in a previous stage, which makes him slightly less favorable in my opinion. Anywhoo, who's your pick this season? Leave a comment below? Later, quirks.

Bieber Flip?

Alright, so today's topic: Justin Bieber. Personally, I'm definitely a fan. But I could understand the haters' point of view. He used flip his hair a LOT. But has anyone seen his new (adorable) short haircut? Can you believe that a single lock of his hair sold for $50,000? Of course, JB donated all the money to a good cause. And lately, his new songs (Dr. Bieber, Born to be Somebody, Pray) showcase his newly found post-adolescent voice. So I'm not sure what complaints the haters have left now. Apparently, he's "dating" Selena Gomez. What do you think? Publicity stunt or true puppy love? Comment below?
TODAY'S RANT: Okay, so I'm saying this as a true Jennifer Lopez fan, so don't take this the wrong way. Her new video, On The Floor, is not the kind of video a 41 year old mother should be releasing. She still looks great and could pass for being in her late twenties, but what will her kids say in a few years when they see their mom shaking her stuff like that? I love the song, it's really catchy and everything, but I'm not down with the new video. Watch it here and leave a comment with your opinion :)
TODAY'S KUDOS: Jennifer Hudson. She lost her weight the right way, not with liposuction, still eats like a human being, and showed up to the Academy Awards this year looking fabulous in bold, bright colors, showing off her natural body, no plastic added.

A Blog

So, as of yesterday, I made the personal decision to start a journal, not only to improve my nonexistent writing skill, but also to try and connect with people all over the world. I myself am a pretty stereotypical half American preteen. My parents were both born and raised in India, but I was born and raised in America. What does that make me? Am I full-blooded Indian, or an American who just happens to be of Indian ethnicity? Leave a comment below with your opinion. It would also be pretty cool if you would leave a comment telling me what country you're from, just so I can see the range of people reading this :).
All you "logical" people out there are probably wondering why I didn't just write a journal, if my original commitment was to write a journal. Honestly, it just seems an odd way of letting your thoughts out to me, trapping them in a lined paper prison where they'll never be heard. So of course, a brilliant idea struck me; Why not just make your journal available to people all over the world?
Alright, so it may not make the MOST sense, but I suppose this is my way of having a voice in the world. There'll be daily updates to this blog, so I hope you decide to stay tuned and leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments below :) I'll talk to you all tomorrow, quirks.
